Charlie http://www.john23rd.org/?p=1431 I hope that your start of the Summer break has been good; it is a bittersweet time for our community as we wish all well in growth of wisdom and grace, but also say “fare well”to so many wonderful folks!
One thing we are also saying “fare well” to this weekend is “Lot 23” the gravel and paved lot adjacent to the Black Cultural Center and across Melrose Place from Blessed John XXIII.  It is the future home of the newest UTK dorm, and the future home of future student parishioners!  It is both exciting and inconvenient!
The great news is that “Lot 8″ which runs all along Caladonia Avenue is becoming “Staff & Faculty” dedicated (up to now it has been non-commuter student parking.) We are being granted Saturday evening and Sunday graced-usage of these spots! If you work with or know Dr. Tim Rogers, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, please THANK HIM for his advocacy and awareness of the Blessed John XXIII’s presence and ministry on campus!
This is effective this weekend!
Please know that CALEDONIA is a one way street, so coming up the John XXIII/Baptist Center driveway you must make a right, so the best way to come now is from VOLUNTEER BLVD to CALEDONIA AVENUE.
I know that this may be hard to get used to, and we are all created creatures of habit.  If anyone is willing to come about 15 minutes early to your favorite Mass and help people navigate around who may not get this message, it would be greatly appreciated!

I hope that these days of commencements are happy days for you!  Each year we mark that happy moment in students’ lives of degree completion.  Our cadre of students is large, and that is a testimony to their own and our whole parish’s commitment to fellowship, connection and growth.
The attached pic is from the Christmas Party, and represents only some of our graduating students.  Please keep them all in your prayers, hopes and best wishes!  
This weekend we begin our summer schedule.

Masses will be Saturday 5:30pm, Sunday 9:00 & 11:15am and 8:00pm.  Please note our 5:30pm & 10pm Masses will begin again in mid August.

There will be blessings for Mother’s Day at the conclusion of each Mass!
Our Grad Student & Young Professionals group will each Sunday at 9pm after the 8pm mass this summer.
Please keep Deacon Rich in your prayers as he prepares to become Father Rich on May 19th in New York.  Next weekend, Father Jim Brucz will be here to celebrate all the Masses as I will be at Deacon Rich’s Ordination!  It will be great to Welcome Father Jim back to Knoxville!
