The Transfiguration – Jesus’ transfiguration was a moment of hope for the disciple, giving them the strength to endure the future sacrifices they would make as they formed the early Church.  As we continue our journey with Catholic Relief Services’ Operation Rice Bowl, let us be mindful that our Lenten sacrifices help to give hope to our brothers and sisters in need.

 ANNUAL CATHOLIC CHARITIES DINNER – A dinner to benefit the 13 social service programs of the Knoxville region of Catholic Charities of East Tennessee.  Services are directed at the most vulnerable, including families in hardship, individuals in crisis, and children and seniors marginalized by abuse, neglect or other endangerment.  Less than 5 percent of all clients served are Catholic.  The dinner will be Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Knoxville Convention Center.  There will be a Welcome Reception at 6 pm and Dinner at 7 pm.  Cost is $125.00 per person.  Please contact Fr. Charlie Donahue or the parish office if interested.

Haiti Mission Trip – The next medical mission trip Leogane, haiti will be October 10-17.  We need people with a medical background and those willing to work as general help.  Felxibility, cheerful spirit, and willingness and ability to work in a hot, humid climate are required!  The cost will be approximately $1,100.00.  Those needing financial assistance should consider applying for a grant under the Service and Outreach Grant Program.  If interested, please contact Susanor Dan Speraw at 671-2789 or ssperaw@utk.edu

 A new Search is…AWAKENING

Vol Awakening is a brand new retreat program being brought to the University of Tennessee in Fall 2009. This is a student-led retreat sponsored by John XXIII Catholic Student Center. We are starting this retreat at UTK with the help of Vanderbilt University, Duke University, and Texas A&M University. Come out and join us for a weekend of amazing talks, faith sharing, and fellowship with other College Christians. Sign up at our website (web.utk.edu/~jschne11).
